A unified sensing platform for lighting controls, at Leviton.
A hardware platform for occupancy motion and humidity sensing lighting controls, designed to support multiple sensors and loads on a single board across a wide product line.
Eight separate products, each with its own board design, power supply, and sensor tuning — duplicating engineering effort and slowing every future update.
Developed a single hardware architecture and board layout supporting multiple sensor types and loads, consolidating the design effort of 8 products into one. Designed a cost-effective, low-leakage power supply compatible with both older and newer home wiring. Improved motion-detection range and false-trigger immunity beyond industry benchmark, and designed a user interface (patent filed) that removed the need for a mobile app to access settings.
Cut development time in half across the product line, doubled effective detection range, and increased adoption through broader wiring compatibility.
